At the end of March in Durban South Africa, two Ethos Academy students participated in the World Individual Debating and Public Speaking Championship. To qualify to this event, they already had to rank as some of the top public speakers in all of Canada! Here, they faced students from Canada, China, Australia, England, and beyond. After competing in preliminary rounds, an Ethos Academy student broke 1st in Persuasive Speaking to finals and ranked as the 9th best speaker in the world and our other student advanced all the way to Grand Finals in Interpretive Reading where they were ranked as the world champion!
